About KCSPOG

The Kenya Civil Society Platform on Oil and Gas- is a platform coalition of CSOs in Kenya with focus on oil and gas resource management including environment, land and livelihoods. The platform’s vision is to seek to influence policy and practice in the oil and gas sector and its mission is ‘An equitable and sustainable oil and gas sector in Kenya’. The platform provides a space to share information, determine common advocacy priorities to ensure that members have a thorough understanding of the issues in the oil and gas sector by leveraging its international and regional networks to provide information, strategic advice and legal, technical and advocacy support.

The Project:

KCSPOG which is the Publish What You Pay Coalition in Kenya worked with PWYP to obtained funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development and Cooperation (NORAD) to implement a three-year project. The project titled: “Promote transparency, accountability, and participation in the oil sector” reflects its civil society aspirations. Hence, the three-year project in Kenya titled: “PWYP Kenya coalition – Promoting transparency and good governance” offers a significant chance for change amid the deteriorating economic situation the country is witnessing.

The project aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. To promote access to reliable information, in order to enhance civic engagement and greater demand for accountability from both the governments and oil companies in Kenya. This will be realised through targeting key stakeholders including affected communities, media outlets, Ministry of Energy, and other CSOs and inter-governmental organizations (e.g. the African Union).
  2. To establish a capable civil society coalition and enhance its ability to access, understand, and analyse data, and reach out to decision-makers in Kenya. In addition, engaging the academia through forming a university students and professors network is a major aim.

What we are looking for:

PWYP- K/ KCSPOG requires a MEL professional fluent in English to enhance the monitoring, evaluation of, and learning from the project. PWYP- K/ KCSPOG is hiring the consultant in order to support the project team and project partners to develop and implement a comprehensive MEL framework for the project.
